The first related status in the video is ascribed status. This is because the children do not choose whether or not they are in the upper class, merchants, cooks, or laborers. For instance, the most recent showdown that the town participated in; all the classes were placed differently without their own individual choice. Also, the town did not have the option who got chosen to be a member of the council.
Although the town is based on the idea of ascribed status, there is a slight idea of achieved status as well. As shown over the course of these childrens' experience, it is obvious that all the children have their own opinions and actions. For example, some of the younger council members showed that they did not want to do their jobs or responsibilities along with their group, such as the yellow district's leader not doing the cooking responsibilities as she should as a leader.
I think that the final idea demonstrated in this video is obligations. This is because each of the city members has a responsibility to fulfill. Just as each of the districts are assigned to a job, they are also expected to do their jobs correctly for the good of the entire town. This is how most of the town felt when the yellow district continued not to fulfill their duties as cooks.

In this video, I believe the first idea presented is power. This is because few children were chosen chosen to be the city counsel to supervise the other children. It is these people's jobs to make sure everything is in order and to control the other children's decisions and future in the next forty days.
The next characteristic presented in this video is dramaturgy. Some of the people in the video were saying that other children were not trying hard enough to help the entire group. This is considered dramaturgy because these people had their own personal opinions about a person and specifically told another person about these certain opinions. For example, when a child hurt one of their legs, most of the children watched instead of helping.
Finally, the last social idea presented in this video is verstehen. I believe this because a member of the group was very homesick and upset and a council member tried to put herself in her shoes and tried to cheer her up. For instance, an older child said that because the girl was younger it must be harder for her to be away from home and luxury. After everyone in the group had talked to her and calmed her down, luckily she was cheerful again with the help of her friends. This shows that with teamwork and friendship, anything is possible.

I think the first idea presented in this video is society. I think this because although there are several people living in one area there are several differences between people. For example, after the town voted for slaughtering chickens that many people disagreed because they believed that it was inhumane although the children needed protein. After the children came up with an agreement to kill two chickens for dinner, the town came together to help with the preparing of the meal for all the people.
The second idea presented in this video would be cultural relativism. I think this because the issue the town faced with deciding to eat the chickens was very difficult in the end for many children who believed that killing animals was cruel. Some of the children that saw how unhappy others were with the final decision tried to make the others happy by telling them the positive side to the decisions.
The final idea that I believe is presented in this video is values. During the difficult showdown part of the episode, there are two rewards for each of the city council member to decide what the town will use for benefits. As a conclusion, although the town didn't win any rewards for the town what would the council choose for the town, the water slide for recreation or the faucets all around the town.

I believe the first idea presented on the video is formal sanctions. I think this because only a certain authority can present a gold star to a certain pioneer. For example, when the city council presented a gold star to a pioneer, no one else can present the honor to a person.
The second idea shown in this video is laws. When the city council decided that the city should have a specific time to sleep, some of the children disagreed, but after a discussion the town agreed that it would be good for the town and especially for the younger children.
The final idea shown in this video is morals. Most of the younger children experienced the blue team cursing from the anger of one of their own pioneer not chosen for the gold star reward. These children and the older pioneers understand that cursing is a wrong action because of the morals that they were taught by elders. In conclusion, the morals that all of the children know make the city better as whole in order to make a good and clean city.

Easter Weekend

During my Easter weekend, I visited my family and I had my braces put on. On Thursday afternoon my mother took me to the orthodontist to look at my teeth and see if I was ready for the braces that I needed. The orthodontist said I was ready and that I was getting the braces on; it was about a two hour process and it was slightly painful as well. Later that weekend on Easter morning, my family and I went to my Aunt's house to visit with my family and friends. It was very nice to be able to see all my family members that I don't typically get to see often.

Things I Enjoy
There are many things that I enjoy. For example, I love video games; I really like playing Call of Duty and Minecraft. A different thing I really enjoy is animals and plants. I have always loved spending time outside with nature an beauty. I have also always had dreams of becoming a veterinarian and to be able to work and connect with animals on a different level. I also love spending time with relatives and friends and to always have quality time to talk with them.

Dear Mrs. DeBolt,
I would like to tell you about a few of my favorite things. My favorite color is blue because it reminds me of the ocean, my favorite class is science because I love experiments and astronomy, and I really enjoy Italian based foods, such as pizza and pasta. The type of music I enjoy is classical rock or rock. Finally, my favorite movie is probably Despicable Me mainly because I do not typically watch movies.
An interesting thing that happened to me was I actually saved someone's life. It was about two years ago when I allowed my little cousin to swim in my pool at my home. She is only about six so I was slightly concerned about letting her swim. We were having a lot of fun practicing different types of swimming techniques, until she flipped over and started to drown. I was very worried and I didn't now what to do, so quickly I swam up to her and pulled her out. Unfortunately, she had stopped breathing so I immediately started to give her CPR, and thankfully she coughed up water and revived herself. I was so relived and glad that she was okay and safe again.
Lastly, something that I highly enjoy in this class is learning how to blog and type quickly. Because I have always been highly interested in computer programing and technology, I am very excited to be working on that topic soon. I would like to learn about what makes a computer and how to make a computer processor for my future education and occupation.
Sincerely,
Kristen Gulley
Video Game Influencing
In today's world, many children have played several video games from Minecraft to Call of Duty. Some of today's video games include some inappropriate content for younger children. These children watching this content can lead to a certain amount of violence. Bullying is unfortunately a very popular type of violence, but these explicit video games can lead to a criminal violence when not handled correctly with an adult.
